The New Year is a chance to double down on my fitness routine. Since I get bored quickly, I always seek new exercise methods. I am currently finding boxing to be fantastic--it’s a great cardio workout and forces me to focus mentally on what I am doing. Drop your focus for a moment, and you will pay for it with a smack to the head or the gut.
I am always looking for new and enjoyable ways to get some exercise. Outside of the gym, tennis is my sport of choice because it fuels my competitive spirit while forcing me to sweat. I am more likely to push myself when there is a game to be won!
Of course, there are days when it just isn’t happening. I may eat a crap breakfast or play the worst game of my life. But I am trying to learn how to let those things go and focus on returning to it the next day. There’s always another match to be played!
My New Year resolution is to celebrate when I keep to my fitness regimen and to be gentle with myself when life gets in the way and forces me to skip a workout. Tomorrow is always another day.
